Re: Cutting 3mm Acrylic
Hi I discovered that my machine (3060) cuts over size too. But rather than messing around with steps and stuff why not just adjust your drawings? Here is what I do: Draw a line ( or two marks apart) of known length as near to the maximum length as you can (on my machine a 500mm line or marks would d...

Re: Shiny MDF problem
I too have a 3060. I found out by accident that it cuts 2mm MDF much better at lower power. So try 10 at 35%, with a corner of 12%. Make sure the air assist is on and you are using decent MDF, and it is focussed at optimum. On those setting the parts should just drop out cleanly.

Re: Damaged Servo? Belt slippage 3040?
Well the cleaning with soap and water works well but the laser is miscutting a lot now. I can not now predict when and why, some days its fine but sometimes (quite often) it misaligns the layers. Its a real battle and quite stressful, and I'm wasting lots of material and time. Its not a speed thing ...

Re: Damaged Servo? Belt slippage 3040?
I think I've solved the slipping problem. I had been trying to clean the Z belt with alcohol. You can pull the belt out a little, twist it and get at the teeth. I now know that iso alcohol will not touch the gunk that builds up from cutting lots of wood - but there is something that does, cleans it ...

Re: Leveling the bed on an LS3060
My 3060 has a rather basic aluminium tray with two u channels screwed to it, onto which the honeycomb bed rests. I loosened these channels and put some packing shims before re-tightening. That helped a bit - its not thou perfect but that won't matter much.

Re: Damaged Servo? Belt slippage 3040?
My 3060 does this more and more. I cant figure it out - sometimes perfect but more often not. Belt tension seems OK - not speed dependent. I've noticed other problems with misaligned layers even when cutting at 4mm/sec, so its not a speed thing. And sometimes, when contouring, it ends up 3mm or so n...

Never, never throw anything away
This is just an anecdote of a mistake I made but didn't realise it was a mistake until much later... read on... Long before I had a laser... We decided to have our loft re-insulated; there were government offers on at the time, and you could have put my current insulation into an envelope and it wou...

Re: 6040 Not Cutting Help Please
I've had a lot of trouble with 2mm mdf lately and suggest the following sanity check: Draw 6 shapes and assign each one a different layer/colour. Set a speed of say 8 and assign each colour a power of 10, 25, 40, 55, 70, 85. I was surprised to find that 30 -45 was way better that 75% or higher. Once...
