Re: Couple of questions to all LS3020 users
Cheers for the tip exengrav , I read about someone using an old olive drum for water, thin and tall with big handles, I've seen them on eBay for about £10-20 delivered, so that might be an idea. Halfords have de-ionised water for car batteries, and the larger Tesco stores will stock it in their car ...

Re: Couple of questions to all LS3020 users
I use a clear Ikea storage box with lid, which is kept under my desk, I think it's about 16L capacity. I think the water tubes are a good length, but the power lead for the pump isn't too long so I had to mount the water box on top of something else to keep it close to the machine. I drilled two hol...

Re: Motors / gears slipping?
Arrrrggghhhh, I figured it out. It now looks like I'm having a big conversation with myself on a forum, but I thought I'd better post a solution in case anyone else comes across the same problem. The rubber belt for the x-axis gantry was really loose. I'm going to go so far as to say ridiculously lo...

Motors / gears slipping?
Alright everyone, happy new year, hoping someone has seen this problem before / knows what the matter is. I'm cutting card on an LS3020 and just recently I'm having to use my scalpel a lot to finish the cuts! Outlines are coming out unfinished, and it's anything with a curve on, the cut is stopping ...

Re: LS3020 air assist "upgrade"
Daven, what about something like smooth black card - the soot shouldn't adhere to the surface quite so much? I use cheap white printer paper when testing things out but never use it for final pieces, but am looking to cut more paper and card, just trying to work out if an upgraded air assist will do...

Re: LS3020 air assist "upgrade"
Yes, £3,000 on a compressor is a little out of my price range ;) I should have looked into the forum a little more before diving straight in - there's a post on this subject already: http://www.laserscript.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=497 ACO-500 might be the way to go for around the £100 ma...

Re: LS3020 air assist "upgrade"
Does the ACO500 do the job for cutting paper? I get sooty edges all the time on the 3020, on white paper, card, etc. I thought upgrading the pump would help, but wasn't sure how far to go. I've been looking at what to upgrade to help with this, some people recommend nitrogen, adjusting the frequency...

Re: LS3020 whistling
Daven,
I'm not really experiencing a loss of power, and the noise does seem to be from the circuitry side rather than the tube itself. It's not really done it before, and it's not every cut, but it has happened about 10 times in the last few days. I'll keep an eye on it.
Cheers
Kris
