Re: Looking to upgrade 'air assist' - Question about duty cycle

Hi Dave, The compressor arrived yesterday and I couldn't wait to get it fired up! It's a lot quieter than I was expecting and it's held its pressure perfectly for the last 30hrs. A good start. Please can I ask what connectors/pipe did you use to connect it to the machine? Have you used any rigid pla...

Re: Looking to upgrade 'air assist' - Question about duty cycle

Hi Dave, Thank you for all the useful info. It's good to hear that the flow is low enough for the compressor to be operating for approx 20-30% of the time. Under normal circumstances I'd probably go for the 30l model, but seeing as the 22l is over £100 cheaper at the moment I think I'll go for one o...

Re: Looking to upgrade 'air assist' - Question about duty cycle

Hi Dave, Many thanks for your response and the link to Spooky's post. Regarding your compressor, please could I ask for further details? (make/model?) I've tried looking it up but only seem to get results for electric showers! Is it a Titan by any chance? Again, if so, please could you tell me which...

Looking to upgrade 'air assist' - Question about duty cycle

Hi there, I am looking to upgrade my air assist from the standard HPC pump to something that offers a faster/more powerful flow and also that I will have more control over via a regulator. I'm now getting more and more confused as to what will be the most suitable? I hear people mention silent compr...

GAHH!! Z Axis belt broke: any tips/advice on fitting? LS1290

Lowering the bed on my LS1290 this morning it suddenly stopped and there was just the faint sound of the motor whirring. I took the bed off the frame and peered into the depths of the machine only to find the main belt had snapped. I'm now stuck with a bed approx 80mm lower than my usual cutting hei...

Re: Ever increasing issues (LS1290)

I just thought I'd better update this....it's been a while and I forgot to report back. Simon at HPC came and had a look at the machine and after some investigation it turned out that the new power supply was faulty all along! Another new supply fitted and it's working perfectly. I must thank Simon ...

Re: Ever increasing issues (LS1290)

PSU is new (about 3 months old), so is the laser so I'm assuming it's neither of those? Motherboard was my suspicion, in my mind it's as if something inside it is telling the laser to stay or (or not telling it to switch off) I'll check the back of the machine tomorrow to see if there is anything sh...

Re: Ever increasing issues (LS1290)

Sorry Tom, I missed your other posts.

I'll double check what software it's running tomorrow and let you know. I have no idea on age? I bought it second hand. Is there somewhere on it that gives the age of the machine? Like a VIN plate or something?

Re: Ever increasing issues (LS1290)

I hadn't thought of trying that. I'll give that a go tomorrow morning and report back.

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone.

Re: Ever increasing issues (LS1290)

Like this you mean? This was a similar exercise but with squares instead or circles. Engraving speeds: 100, 300, 500 consecutively (power 15). Obviously, the slower speeds caused more burning than the higher speeds, but I was just trying anything to see if it would work. http://i74.photobucket.com/a...
