Re: Having a wobbly

Thanks Dave, This might sound like a really silly question/comment but I'm still very much learning the technical side. I recently had to download all the drivers as the connections between my laptop and the machine would not work. I had to be talked through this step by step as I had very done it b...

Having a wobbly

Hi, I saw a topic lower about the lazer head trying to go beyond the home point when a file size was too big. I think I am having this same issue with the head but it's not an issue with file size. The size of the product I am cutting falls well within the bed size, but a few times the laser head ha...

Re: Flaming machine!

Does it cut other material ok (say thin card or ply) and all across the bed? If so the chances are the alignment is ok The flaming near the edge is possibly due to more oxygen/airflow which there is not a lot you can do apart from get the settings right. Maybe you could put a sacrificial bit of ply...

Flaming machine!

I've been having niggly issues for some time with the power and speed and alignment which meant I have been getting ridges along a straight edge cut on 3&5 mm acrylic, I had a issue with the cut being slightly angled or flames being produced. I've so far spent hours refocusing the Mirrors, no ma...

Re: Awful edges on acrylic

Sounds like the power is at the point where the ablated material/gas is causing it to kind of pulse. Lift the material up a bit off the bed - better air assist and extraction can help. Make sure the running gear is clean and lubricated as well as that can sometime cause ridges. Best Dave Thanks Dav...

Awful edges on acrylic

Aaarrrhhhhh! I only got the laser in November, when the engineer came to install and train we got a small 5mm thick piece of acrylic cut with a really smooth edge using sp 10 power 75 ish. But I found on bigger products (which I'm mainly cut) this power causes it to ignite underneath. I slowly lower...

Re: Wool felt or synthetic?

Thanks for all the advice. I've gone with polyester felt in the end, it's 3mm thick but having to inmport from holland. Though price is good and the quality it great as long as you order 10m ++

Re: Alignment

Best place is start with the mirror at the back, where the tube is. Get lots of masking tape before you do anything. To explain the process on here will be a nightmare. I used YouTube to watch a video, watch it a few times.

Re: Engraving outlines?

usw wrote:The method I use is to run a cut on a lower power setting so it just cuts a shallow groove in the surface about 1mm deep, this usually gives better detail than engraving
I have tried this but not getting great success
What power settings are you using for this? on acrylic or ply?
