Re: "Expand Scale"?

Hi Dave,

I see (or rather I don't!) I'll take this to mean:

Lasering some tiny characters? Do they look a bit lame? Try pressing this button and see if they're any better.

Cheers!

"Expand Scale"?

Hi All,

What does the Lasercut 5.3 "Expand Scale" checkbox actually do? It's in the options box for engraving, but I've not worked out what it's for.

Thanks,

James

Re: DXF file not displaying

Hi Roboguy, I've experienced this as well - and it usually seems to be associated with unnecessarily complex DXFs. My view, try to clean up the DXFs before import, so they don't feature a plethora of redundant nodes. AutoCAD seems to be a bugger for this - Inkscape, on the other hand, produces nicer...

Re: Fume Filtering

Hi Llamalasers! Are there any better/cheaper alternatives? Regrettably, not that I've found, yet. Do the filters clog up easily? If you cut MDF a lot, expect a pricey time, with filter life for me around 3-6 months. By avoiding MDF, my filters last more than twice as long. Is it worth pre-filtering ...

Re: 3060 Belt

Hi Steve, I don't have a definite answer for you, but my experience with other spares (mirrors, lenses) is that "generic" suppliers are very comparable with HPC's spares. If you have time to trawl through Ebay, AliExpress or others, and you're prepared to risk getting the wrong thing, then...

Re: Alternative software/procedures to compile MOL files

Why do you ask James ? All the design and processing I do with other software. I only use the laser software to talk to the laser .. just to send the cut file. Good question! I, too, don't use Lasercut for design. (Typically I use Inkscape - but more recently I've been looking at generating SVGs, a...

Re: Alternative software/procedures to compile MOL files

Hi Dave,

Followup question: do you know whether these lasers will accept any filetype other than .MOL?

Cheers,

James

Alternative software/procedures to compile MOL files

Hello All,

Do you know of any alternatives to Lasercut5.3 as a way to generate .MOL files?

Thanks!

Re: BOFA Filters

Hi TimBobTastic, For the last 18 months or so I've been running a BOFA filter, and I *think* that you can reduce your costs and extend filter life by replacing the "Deep Pleat Duo" pre-filter more frequently than the more expensive carbon filter. I ate through my first pair of filters in a...

Re: Grade Engrave... Oh Really?

Hi All, Okay, I think I've cracked it. My conclusions are: * On these lasers Grade Engrave does NOT work with bitmap files. The "Engrave only work with 2-bit bitmap!" error message is simply bogus. (I'd love to be proved wrong on this - but I have just used Imagemagick to create a series o...
