Re: Steralisation

I've recently had to change my water - I was moving the cutter to a different desk anyway, taken the opportunity to drain it all and put in new deionised water. The water tubes were getting black mould growing on them, and I was getting a thin film on the pump and container. I'm moving the tank belo...

Re: Software options and Mac Users?

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro and I tried using Virtual Box to run XP, so I wouldn't need 2 machines, and could essentially have my files on the same machine in a shared folder. Long story short, I ended up getting an old 32 bit laptop from Freecycle because it didn't work. I could run all the software b...

Re: LS3020 bed height

Thanks Dave, I did a quick search on the topic, but should have checked the reference section too, sorry. Also found the tip about putting rubber feet on the honeycomb bed to avoid scraping, that'll help with levelling too I'd imagine. I might cut a new reference square with a tiny notch in one corn...

Re: Extraction Help

Thanks Spooky, I didn't know that about elbow joints. In that case I think I'll make this adaptor from MDF, seal up the insides and then run 100mm duct out the back, then obviously through the extractor and out the external wall. Hopefully be able to post some pictures with how I got on soon.

LS3020 bed height

Hello, Does anyone have a photo showing how to set the bed height on the LS3020? I can't find any record of how I've been doing it - I think the key phrase was from the top of the cutting material to the "top of the laser housing" - but there's 2 pieces of metal on the focusing lens mount ...

Re: Extraction Help

Thanks guys, I found a Screwfix fan running 245m3/hr, which should be around double what I have at the moment, and I also thought I'd share this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:57109 A 100mm adaptor from 5mm board for the rear of the LS3020. I think this could be further improved with rectangular ...

Re: Extraction Help

Hi guys, Just for future reference that product has now moved to: http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-hobby-series-awde5002-extractor-prod886589/ ..but I was looking at some better extraction for mine too, was interested how you both got on? How quiet is it, what's the extraction like - less smell,...

Re: Hello from Wirral

Hi again, Thought I'd do a little update as I've used the cutter a bit more: Still looking at getting some better extraction, but I've been holding off as I hope to move the cutter to a different room so I'll get it sorted after the move. But it may now be more urgent as I raster etched about 10 lin...

Re: Sizing in Illustrator / NewlyDraw.

Thanks for that guys, links are appreciated, based on what you've said, Daven, I've messed about a bit and this is what happens: Export to DXF 1 cm = 1 units. A 5cm square in Illustrator produces a 12.7cm square in NewlyDraw. Long story short on this one is that I played around with some ratios but ...

Sizing in Illustrator / NewlyDraw.

Hi, Trying to design a few things in Illustrator CS6 and convert them to dxf for use in NewlyDraw. It's all worked fine up until now, I can do the process fine, but now I want to cut something at a specific size. Before if I was making something like a badge, I could select the whole thing and enter...
