Grade Engrave... Oh Really?
Hi All, Over the last couple of years I've done loads of engraving and cutting... but something still eludes me - grade engrave. If I import a bitmap (say, a PNG or a GIF) into Lasercut 5.3 then I can get it to engrave, just as long as it's 1-bit: just l black and just white, no other colours. If I ...

Re: Lasering QR codes
Hi Tom, I've successfully engraved QR codes using several different processes. (1) As Dave says, simply save your QR code as a Black and White (1-bit) image and engrave away. If you need some cuts as well, you'll need to import a DXF separately, and make sure that the QR and the cuts are correctly r...

Re: Settings for cutting acrylic please
If you have problems with your acrylic getting cloudy or scratched, then isoprop is a great idea. If that doesn't shift the dirt, or if there's actual scratching, try Brasso. Yes, I know it doesn't sound like it'll work - but it does! It's saved my bacon a couple of times when there's been an annoyi...

Re: Sudden laser fail. Diagnosis?
Hi All, Just to let you know, I successfully diagnoses the problem today. Fortunately, nothing more complex than an airlock in the system, combined with intermittent functioning of the water pump. Lessons learned: (1) If your laser peripherals are supplied with European plugs, chop them off and repl...

Re: Sudden laser fail. Diagnosis?
Thanks Dave - now I see what you mean! I was thinking that you meant there was another reset button to deactivate the effect of the flow sensor! I see what you're getting at - bridging the flow sensor sounds feasible just as a test - but I guess I'd better make damn sure that the water IS flowing be...

Re: Sudden laser fail. Diagnosis?
Hi Dave,
3060. Does that have a water flow sensor? Where is the reset? On the PSU?
The tube looks just fine - and it's firmly seated, not rattling around.
Cheers,
James

Sudden laser fail. Diagnosis?
Hi All, Today I set my HPC laser up at a Festival. It was working perfectly yesterday. Today, nothing. The whole setup seemed to work fine, but the laser tube itself didn't fire. At first I thought it might be the door cutout. But no - the "laser" light didn't illuminate when the door was ...

Re: "Skidding" while engraving
Hi @Daven,
Thanks for this. I'm beginning to think that it may have been caused by gunk build-up inside the links of the drag chain - it's easy to miss these when cleaning the more obvious areas of grime deposition!
Thanks,
James

Re: "Skidding" whle engraving
...And while I'm here (talking to myself!) I just had a thought. I did LOADS of engraving yesterday, and maybe filled up the cabinet with smoke. Could the runners have become icky, thus encouraging the head to "stick" and the skidding to happen? I just cleaned and oiled the hell out of it,...

"Skidding" while engraving
Hi All, On one of my 3060's I seem to have a problem with the position of the cutting head when engraving. On the piece I'm trying to engrave right now, (settings: speed 400 / power 24) the head seems to "skid" to the left. When I pressed "Stop" then the head ended up returning, ...
