£50 upgrades to 3020 pro
Hi Had my 3020 for over a month now - fantastic machine - results far exceeding my expectations. Have made £50 of upgrades and machine now has a digital readout for power, a water temparature gauge and an elapsed time (of laser) meter. If anyone can tell me how to upload pictures I'll post some with...

Re: Adding mirror to see what's happening?
Hi All Have the 3020 pro. The mirror I was thinking of adding was in the viewable area - at the back vertically on the panel just above the exhaust outlet - so that I can actually see the red dot in the top left corner before the machine starts cutting/engraving. It's currently hidden by the black b...

Adding mirror to see what's happening?
Hi Only a week or so into using my new 3020. When starting a job at top left it is good to know when laser strength is correct, however this is precisely the place it is most difficult to see. Any thoughts on adding a (vertical) mirror at the back of the machine above the exhaust slot? This would en...

Re: New user experience
Now back off hols and sorting out additional extraction/ventilation for 3020. Thanks to all for pics and tips. Rob's buildings look seriously brilliant. Are these 7mm, almost look too detailed for 4mm? Have just tried some card and and very impressed by the way it cuts and 'hangs together'. For 4mm ...

Re: Bricks & Architectural Drawings?? Thoughts ??
Dave I'd certainly find bricks and wall bonds useful for railway modelling applications. Would these be scalable? I work in '00' 1:76 and G-Scale - 1:26 (but varies a little from manufacturer to manufacturer). I model 'northern' 1960's buildings so hope to experiment on 'stonework' effect but as a n...

Re: New user experience
Dave and Dave - many thanks for replies and tips. Counting knob looks good - I'll add one on to my next Rapid order. Have nearly completed first G-Scale building but on holiday soon for two weeks. Once finished I'll post a picture. N gauge will require some seriously thin materials - any suggestions...

Ensuring only cut lines once
Hi Cutting small intricate parts I found laser would make two or more 'passes' on some lines making them wider or even burning through thin parts completely. Also takes longer to cut job with extra laser time used. I use CorelDraw to design. Checked these files and found the obvious! When, say, you ...

New user experience
Had my new 3020 pro just two days - here's my experience to date. 1: Took SIX hours to install the software. Finally got it working on a machine with XP Pro. I used to own/run a software company so reasonably familiar with installing stuff. Have Norton 360 installed on the machine along with other s...
