Actually Sy the main problems with PC's and / or software is down to PEBKAC usually :)

Software crashes when looking at a USB stick Most likely an issue with the usb stick.Use a fully formatted plain file format and avoid all the stick extras like security as they will conflict with Lasercut software. Random crashes all the time. Welcome to the world of windows and microsoft ;) Saves...

Trev, Go with the 6840, that extra 80mm you can be sure will be needed on the third job you do (sods law says it will be 610mm long) Also you have the benefit of a machine that will split down into two parts and fit through a "normal" household door (trust me,Chris got one into my computer...

Rubberstamp LET is a great font for stencils Del.

Make sure your text is on a different layer to the vector cuts...see if that makes any difference (also make sure you save in autoicad 2000 dxf format) (or earlier)

Hi John, If I use 60 watts on a piece of paper im going to have a very hot machine very quickly and the wife running round to find the fire extinguisher ;) Joking aside, It's about dwell time and material deformation / immolation. Laser ply (3mm) will cut cleanly and leave a less noticable burnt edg...

The minerals and ions in tap water can be corrosive to small components as well as causing sedimentary deposition into the tube glass (thats going to affect cooling as you will end up with a microfine insulation layer in the tube coils) also those impurities will carry and hold heat more efficiently...
