Mixed results with glass

Hi All (HP 6040)

I'm having some varied results with lasering onto flat 2mm float glass. I have read an article which suggests hot and fast is better as the glass wont get to hot? I have tried wet paper and washing up liquid. I seem to get good results just lasering straight onto the glass but have heard this isn't good due to the reflective nature. Im finding that increasing the power does show up finer detail on BMP pictures.

Does anyone laser onto glass that can help me achieve a good results? or point me in the direction of an article etc
