Hi everyone
My current supplier of laser ply has sent me a few sheets of 6mm that are far from ideal.... Very difficult to cut.... I am thinking of trying the HPC material.... (Probably should have started using their ply from the get go)
Does anyone who uses it have a photo of the colour / grain I could typically expect?
Is the HPC material birch?
Thank in advance

Re: Laser Ply
I use the 6mm liteply, its very light, all of mine was perfectly flat, cuts beautifully, but lacks any sort of structural strength. I buy 3mm ply from Lathams, last lot I got was crap. Warped and full of fillers.

Re: Laser Ply
hi all
I have tried a few suppliers of ply including Lathams, which was rubbish and full of patches where they had cut out knots. that was supposed to be laser ply. it was birch but full of rubbish. I am now using poplar ply that is faced with a thin layer of oroko I think, for a nice colour. it cuts 6mm like a dream, I even use 9,12 and 15mm with my 1290 and 80w tube. its a company that make it for the caravan builders so it has to be strong and light, which means easy to cut.

Re: Laser Ply
I recently did a job were the customer supplied the 600x400 3mm laser birch ply which had come from Hobarts. It was full of inclusions, filler and almost every sheet with knot patching, some on both faces.
I've always bought 5x5 ft from Jennor time, they come a bit wave but once city to size and stacked soon go flat.
Again I've still had problems with Jennor laser ply, no knot patches but inclusions and filler, most noticeable on 4mm.
I've not used HPC laser ply yet, but reviews so far seem promising.

Re: Laser Ply
Hi
The first laser ply I bought was from HPC when I bought my laser which was birch ply and it was great.
I then bought some poplar plywood from Kitronik because poplar ply is cheaper and quicker to cut because it is less dense than birch and I didn't need it to be strong for what I was using it for. I was happy with that so bought a load more from Kitronik.
So would recommended them but the HPC stuff is also very good.
