Every now and then I get a popping sound almost like a tiny explosion from within the machine. Today I noticed that it popped a piece I was cutting right out of the wood!
When cutting acrylic I noticed it happens as it passes over the edges of he honeycomb with a little flash. Any ideas what is causing it?
Popping?
Re: Popping?
Acrylic gas ignites if the laser flashes on the honeycomb, I raise the acrylic up with spacers

Re: Popping?
I also raise mine up to stop the honeycomb melting the acrylic. I imagine that it's residue that's on the honeycomb igniting. I first thought it was the tube! Lol.
Re: Popping?
Yeah it is heavier than air so unless your extraction is improved it hangs about

Re: Popping?
Better air assist can help. That said, I can still get flaming under the workpiece using a big compressor!

Re: Popping?
I've actually got dual compressors pumping into the machine, but I think the extraction is sub par. Any suggestions for better extraction? I was considering raising the honeycomb up slightly to allow airflow from below
